Local Youngster Selling Calf to Help Those In Need

Cort Loseke may only be 12, but already has a great perspective on life. Cort will be selling his calf, Bambi, on Thursday to help raise money for those that were affected by a recent wildfire in Kansas.

The funds generated from selling Bambi will be going to the Kansas Livestock Association, which will then in turn be donated to the farmers in need that were affected by the wildfire.

While some youngsters might be upset about giving away an animal that is theirs, Loseke has a perspective that is rare for a kid his age.

“You have to remember that cattle are not pets, they are used to be raised for food. I’m not really that sad because I knew I was going to have to part with him anyway,” said Cort Loseke.

For Cort, it isn’t a matter of being a hero, it’s simply what is doing what he feels is right.

“Since I know that I’m doing the right thing, I don’t really feel that good about myself. I just know that is what I’m suppose to do,” said Loseke.

So while Cort Loseke just believes he is doing what is right, it’s easy to tell that there’s a lesson that could be applied to all that can be taken away from this.
